See also XLinC's YouTube channel on experimental methods.

XLinC Lab

The XLinC Lab – the lab for Experimental Linguistics in Cologne – is headed by Prof. Dr. Petra Schumacher and investigates how the human brain reacts to different language-related stimuli using various methods. It is equipped with specialized devices to study human language processing, carrying out various types of experiments, including EEG recordings, Eyetracking experiments with adults, Speech recordings and Reaction time studies.

Sign Language Lab

The Sign Language Lab in Cologne is headed by Prof. Dr. Pamela Perniss and investigates the linguistic structure of sign languages, in particular, DGS (German Sign Language); the role of iconicity in shaping the lexicon and structure of sign languages; the use of feedback signals by signing interlocutors; and the “L2M2” learning of DGS. It is equipped with a recording studio and research lab for naturalistic data collection and behavioral experiments.
